Traffic management and air transportation functions take part in moving personnel, materiel, and household goods by military and commercial transportation activities. Included are packaging; handling and loading freight and baggage on military aircraft; scheduling military air transportation of personnel and materiel; briefing and caring for passengers on military aircraft; and arranging for commercial air, rail, motor, and water transportation of personnel, materiel, and household goods.
Vehicle management functions entail cradle to grave management of assigned vehicle fleets, including inspecting, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and vehicular equipment; vehicle body maintenance, repair, and refinishing; vehicle maintenance and fleet management analysis; and related functions.
Vehicle operations functions of this career field include pre- and post-operation vehicle servicing and inspections; vehicle operations in support of distinguished visitors, personal security details, and mass transportation movements; planning and coordinating for special events and protocol transportation support; administering installation driver qualification and licensing program; reviewing contingency, mobility, and natural disaster plans to determine support requirements; and dispatching and operating various classes of commercial and tactical vehicles, including yard locomotives.
Excluded from this career field are maintaining aerospace ground equipment used in direct support of aircraft and missiles, and maintaining fixed power production equipment. Also excluded are functions of scheduling, clearing, and dispatching aircraft.
Specialty Summary. Supervises and performs vehicle and vehicular equipment maintenance activities and functions, including diagnostics, repairs, rebuilding components and assemblies and fabrication of parts. Ensures compliance with vehicle maintenance policies, directives, and procedures.

Loads and unloads passengers, cargo, and baggage moved on military and commercial-contract aircraft. Prepares and maintains air movement records and reports. Performs aircraft cleaning services and delivers meals and comfort item supplies to aircraft. Operates forklifts and aircraft loading equipment. Uses computer systems to provide in-transit visibility over passenger and cargo movement operations.
Specialty Summary. Performs the Air Force organic ground transportation capability for passengers and cargo using a multitude of vehicles in direct support of mission requirements. This includes operating light and heavy-duty vehicles such as buses, truck and semi-trailer combinations, forklifts, and wrecker/recovery vehicles. Supports personal security details. Performs motor vehicle preventative maintenance checks and services. Plans organizes, and directs vehicle transportation to support operational missions.
