The Signals Intelligence/Ground Electronic Warfare (SIGINT)/EW) OccFld includes the employment of Signals Intelligence (SIGINT), Electronic Warfare (EW), Computer Network Operations (CNO), and communications systems, facilities, and personnel. Marines in this field conduct collection, analysis, production, and dissemination of collected data and intelligence. Marines entering the SIGINT/EW field will be required to set up and operate communications and/or electronic equipment, prepare reports, conduct preventive maintenance on assigned equipment, and assist in the operational control and management of SIGINT/EW personnel, equipment, and facilities. Entry-level jobs include Special Communications Signals Intercept Collection Operator, Electronic Intelligence (ELINT) Intercept Operator, Special Intelligence System administrator/Communicator, or Cryptologic Linguist. Marines can also enter the SIGINT field at the grade of corporal or sergeant. Duty assignments are made to Marine Cryptologic Support Battalion, Radio Battalions, Intelligence Battalions, the Air Wing VMAQs, the Special Security Communications Teams (SSCTS), and the staff sections of the Marine divisions and wings. All personnel are expected to become familiar with information Operations/Information Warfare, support to intelligence computerized networks, and Marine tactical SIGINT/EW operations to include: electronic attack (EA) electronic protect (EP), electronic support (ES), and radio direction-finding functions. These skills may be obtained through formal training or on-the job training and should be acquired prior to obtaining the grade of gunnery sergeant. Intelligence MOS Marines are required to have a Defense Language Aptitude Battery (DLAB) test score on file in their official military personnel file (OMPF). Intelligence MOS Marines that score above 100 on the DLAB may be designated to attend formal language training. There is no minimum DLAB score required to be assigned to MOSs in the Intelligence Occupational field with the exception of those Marines assigned to the 267X series MOSs. Marines assigned to the 267X series MOSs must score a minimum of 100 on the DLAB.
