Repairs all types of canvas equipment such as seat covers, awnings, tents, boat sails, tarpaulins, gun and truck covers in an Army repair shop.
Sews, patches, and darns, using needles and thread or sewing machine. Lays out canvas and cuts off lengths using shears or electric cutting machine. May hand sew grommets, using mallet, punch, and hardwood block. Sews galvanized iron rings to edges of holes, using a sail makers palm, needle, and linen thread. Attaches ropes and metal fittings to canvas by hand sewing.
